Marsden Rock Aurora
Description
The Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights off the North East coast, captured beyond the famous Marsden Rock, South Tyneside. The rock is lit by a floodlight from the Marsden Grotto restaurant which is set into the cliffs and accessed by a lift - or a lengthy stone staircase. The stack was originally connected to the mainland by an arch, which collapsed in 1996. When that fell, two rock sea stacks were left and the smaller one was demolished for safety reasons, leaving Marsden Rock as it is now.
